Approach

I view my role more as a technician. It's not that I don't love the technical stuff (I'll talk shop all day) but what really excites me is being able to create a bridge between your work + the people you want to share it with.

Every project I take on requires me to become fluent in someone else's world, earn the trust of people I’ve often just met, usually with very different relationships to the subject matter, and hold the whole picture together while remaining responsive to what I learn along the way.

None of that is about me. It's about a shared goal.

A consistent focus throughout my work has been supporting marginalized and at-risk communities; but the audience for that work is rarely from those communities. That gap is where the real craft lives. Sharing lived experience in a way that is authentic to the subject, accessible to an outside audience, and doesn't reduce people to their circumstances requires more than an emotional hook. It requires genuine understanding. I've learned that you cannot communicate something meaningfully until you've truly listened to it, not just heard it, but understood it well enough to translate it without distorting it.

I tread lightly as an un-invited visitor on the traditional and unceded territories of the Syilx, Ktunaxa ɁamakɁis, Ĩyãħé Nakón mąkóce and Snʕickstx tmxʷúlaʔxʷ peoples. I encourage you to take some time to learn more about the stolen territories on which you reside here.
